From the Neck Up

Trivia: A Whiter Shade of Pale was Paul and Linda's song...

Due to some serious shenanigans with Blogger, today, this is a shorter piece than I'd planned. I'd had more to say about songs, lyrics, our formative years, nostalgia, but what I'm reduced to now, is wondering if YOU can recall songs that are your "our song"? The songs that tie you forever to someone, something, or someplace?

From the film, Moonlight, the "our song" of Kevin and Chiron, Hello Stranger:

I'll post some of mine, but I'd love to know your: "Everytime I hear this song, I'm right back...

My extended time away from the workplace ends today. During this time I've mostly been annoyed and annoying on facebook. I look forward to working, meeting my new students 8/31. But I will miss these amorphous days...they've given me the time I need to just poke around in my head.

To start, Covid 19 this is our song... "A Fifth of Beethoven":

First grade song, so earnest:

This is my grandfather Tux song. He hailed from the Asheville, NC area. This song of longing and regret fits him. I remember it coming on the car stereo when mom and I were traveling in the mountains:

Eighth grade song, my aesthetic - aspiring louch:

This is my Larry song, tied with Down to Zero:

Backing up, this is my 1st boyfriend song, small goals big dreams:

First marriage song, lots of Bowie and Steve's platform shoes:

 2nd marriage song, sigh:

This is my dear friend Mary Jo song, I could just see her scoundrel boyfriend thinking the same:

Several songs remind me of my mom, but this one always makes me happy; I can see her moving to this, her sly cute look. Mom danced to the horns while keeping the beat:

Ultimately there are many songs for these people places and things, and that's as it should be. Life is rich that way. Please let me know "your songs".
